The fluctuation in pressures, temperatures & fluid states has the potential to significantly impact the integrity of these types of barriers.

The barrier and its environmental constraint (tubing, casing, cement, formation) will have differing rates of thermal expansion, risking the fixed bond and the integrity of the seal.

By combining Resolute EPG, a dynamic, self-healing layer, with a cement, provides a low cost tandem barrier that can cope with the changing and challenging conditions faced over the barrier lifetime.
